Unlike many classroom-based courses, our training focuses on learning by doing. Participants work directly with professional equipment and actors, gaining valuable experience that mirrors real production environments.

One-Day Cinematography Workshop

A Practical Introduction to Professional Camera Operating and Cinematography

 

Duration: 7 Hours of Training + Lunch

Workshop Schedule

08:30 – 12:30 - Camera & Lighting Fundamentals

The morning session covers a selection of the essential principles of professional cinematography, tailormade for the group, including:

  • Four-Point Lighting

  • Exposure Control

  • Composition and Visual Storytelling

  • Camera Operation

  • Tripod Techniques

  • Dolly and Slider Movement

  • Lens Fundamentals – Zooms and Prime Lenses

  • Monitor Calibration

  • Focus Pulling

  • Shot Sizes and Framing

  • Filters and Matte Boxes

  • Clapperboard Operation and Set Etiquette

 

12:30 – 13:30 - Lunch Included

A complimentary lunch is provided for all attendees.

13:30 – 16:30 - Practical Scene Shoot

Put your new skills into practice by working with professional actors to shoot a scripted dramatic scene.

This practical session gives participants the opportunity to:

  • Operate professional cinema cameras

  • Set up and modify lighting

  • Work with actors

  • Practice camera movement

  • Learn professional set procedures

  • Gain confidence in a real production environment

By the end of the day, you'll have lit, operated and filmed a professionally staged scene using industry-standard equipment.
